Rowan’s online Teacher Leadership Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) is a part-time program offered in accelerated online format. It requires the completion of 19 graduate semester hours.

*NJ DOE Teacher Leader Endorsement: Students will complete a 10-hour supervised experience as a component of the Clinical Self Study leading to the Teacher Leader Endorsement.  For information on the Endorsement, contact your Clinical Self Study Professor for information on the supervised experience component.

Admission Requirements

To apply to Rowan’s online's teacher leadership graduate certificate program, start by submitting the materials listed below. Once your documents are received, the Rowan University Office of Admissions will follow up with confirmation or let you know if anything is missing. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program.

  • Completed online application
  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
  • Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
  • Current professional resume
  • Typewritten statement of professional objectives
  • Provide reasons for pursuing the program. Describe how you might use this program to advance your career (educational goals beyond the master's level, if applicable, are also relevant).
  • Must include your definition of a “Teacher Leader”
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Letters of recommendation should be from professional administrators and include information, which attests to the applicant's ability to pursue a graduate degree.
  • NJ Standard Instructional Certificate or CEAS
  • Signed statement of regular, on-going access to a classroom
  • Completed Rowan Global M.Ed. Teaching Verification Form
  • Statement confirming you are currently teaching and have been an active teacher for at least three academic years
