M.S. in Nursing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Program Information
Our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program provides registered nurses (RNs) with the skills to assume leadership roles in their respective organizations. The nurse practitioner (NP) concentration prepares RNs to sit for the concentration certification exam. The certifying agency determines eligibility for the exam.
As a student in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentration, you will have the opportunity to learn more about how to help patients who are suffering from issues related to mental health.
Our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is offered in a hybrid format with a combination of fully online courses, face to face classes, and clinical experiences. At the completion of the MSN program, the graduate will have completed clinical hours as determined by the accrediting body in the area of the Nurse Practioner track.
All applicants to the Master of Science in Nursing program will complete seven core graduate level courses. Admission to the concentration will only occur after application review by the coordinator. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all Master of Science in Nursing core courses in order to be considered by the Department of Nursing to move into the Nurse Practitioner Concentration Track.

Rowan University is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to support M.S. in Nursing students enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner programs.
These opportunities are provided through the DREAM program, a grant-funded initiative by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). This is a partial scholarship that applies to the Family Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner classes. The scholarship does not apply to the core classes in the MSN program.
The purpose of the DREAM program is to increase the number of primary care nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and certified nurse midwives trained and prepared to provide primary care services, mental health and substance use disorder care, and/or maternal health care. The grant will support the training and graduation of advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) students/trainees in these disciplines by providing tuition and other eligible supports to trainees. Funding preference will be given to those applicants who are committed to practice in underserved or rural communities or state and local health departments. Individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and first-generation college students are strongly encouraged to apply to the program. All interested individuals are welcome to apply.
