Jefferson Health New Jersey / Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center

Interns rotate through all three divisions of the Jefferson Health New Jersey in the suburban communities of Stratford‚ Cherry Hill, and Washington Township‚ as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center‚ a large urban institution. These institutions provide approximately 1‚000 licensed beds. Before training begins‚ each intern chooses to follow prescribed learning experiences in one of several areas, including Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine‚ Internal Medicine/Emegency Medicine, OB/GYN, Otolaryngology (FPS), Psychiatry, Traditional Rotating, or Urology.



Each hospital offers large in–patient and out–patient populations which lead to varied indepth clinical experiences that are enhanced by the educational expertise of committed and dedicated house officers‚ university faculty and attending physicians.

CarePoint Health Christ Hospital

The Family Practice Residency & Internship Program at Christ Hospital in northern New Jersey, offers the opportunity to train with experienced doctors in a dynamic environment.  The hospital is located in a vibrant section of Jersey City, ten minutes from Manhattan, New York City.

The Traditional Rotating Internship is a one-year program designed to help explore a wide variety of medical specialties.  The hospital-based program provides valuable experience in every facet of medicine, including Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergency Medicine, as well as continuity of care experience at Family Practice Associates North Hudson Community Action Corporation, an on-site family care center, where experienced physicians provide a full continuum of outpatient care to patients of all ages.

Christ Hospital also offers a Combined Rotating Internship/Family Practice Internship and Family Practice Residency designed to prepare you for a career in Family Medicine.  All residents and interns receive one-on-one training from highly-qualified, experienced faculty.  The faculty’s enthusiastic approach to teaching and the friendly environment create an exciting learning experience.

The Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper Hospital / University Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey, offers a Track Internship and Residency Program in Pediatrics through RowanSOM OPTI. Interns gain a wide range of in-patient and out-patient experiences including general pediatrics, pediatric subspecialty care, normal newborn care, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intermediate care, pediatric emergency medicine, and pediatric surgery. Program Entrance Requirements Requirements

All PGY I Interns are required to:

  • Have completed D.O. degree requirements from an AOA accredited School of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Meet RowanSOM OPTI of NJ application requirements as set forth in the application materials.
  • Have obtained a passing score on Part 1, Part 2 CE and Part 2 PE of the National Boards / COMLEX-USA. Please note that it is RowanSOM's GMEC policy that any student that does not have a passing score on their COMLEX PE, will not be ranked in the NMS match (this includes those who have failed the exam but subsquently passed).
  • Have valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (certification classes are offered during orientation).
  • Comply with the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners requirements.
  • Comply with University requirements as set forth in contract materials.


Specialty Track Programs :

Programs will grant residency credit for the 1 st postdoctoral year of training. Students will apply and "match" directly into the residency and the 1 st postdoctoral year will be considered the first year of residency training.

Traditional Rotating Internship:

This option represents a traditional rotating internship and stands alone. Specialties that have chosen this option prefer residents in their specialty to have completed a traditional rotating internship. This option is also available to students who are undecided on future plans or are planning on entering ACGME training.
