Where to Give

RowanSOM Annual Fund

By giving to the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine Annual Fund, your dollars go to work immediately. Every year, the Annual Fund provides much needed scholarships to student doctors to help to defray the costs of a medical education. The Annual Fund also provides seed money through small grants to student organizations. Every dollar you give is one less dollar a student must pay out of pocket for their education inside and outside the classroom.

Scholarship Funds

Scholarship dollars are of the utmost importance. At RowanSOM, most medical students graduate with an average of $194,000 in debt. With 82% of all students receiving some level of financial aid, scholarships help defray the costs and give RowanSOM the opportunity to attract the best students, regardless of financial ability. You can contribute to scholarships through the Annual Fund, existing scholarship funds or sponsor an annual scholarship with a minimum gift of $1,000.

Research Funds

Student and faculty research is a top priority at RowanSOM. Whether it is pilot funding to a young researcher with an exciting new idea or support for an established project currently between grants, or funding for faculty research on urgent medical issues, gifts for research provide vital assistance for discoveries taking place every day at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Some examples are the Dean's Research Fund, Canavan disease research, Alzheimer's disease research, and child abuse research (CARES Institute).

Community Initiatives

RowanSOM has a strong community service mission, sponsoring three Area Health Education Centers (AHECs), which are the only programs of their type in the state.

            • 1. OMM Clinic - In 2013, RowanSOM students opened a free community OMM clinic on the first and third Saturdays of the month.
            • 2. Camden Community Health Center - The Camden Community Health Center is a student-driven free clinic located in the OEO building in Camden, NJ. It is managed by medical students of the Rowan University School of Medicine and caters to the health needs of the Camden community.
            • 3. Project REACH (Revitalizing Education & Advancing Camden's Health) - An innovative, multifaceted approach to addressing the needs of the youth of Camden. Project REACH implements youth-initiated community health service projects in Camden using a problem-based learning approach to teach preventative health in Camden middle schools.

Grateful Patient Giving Program

Many of our patients and their families have asked for a special way to thank a skilled physician, a compassionate nurse or a devoted staff member. In answer to their kind and generous spirit, we would like to introduce our Grateful Patient Giving Program, which provides an opportunity to recognize someone, or to simply say thank you, through a gift made to the Rowan University Foundation.

Named Endowed Funds

Whether a named Professorship, supporting the work of a faculty member, a Fellowship to support the salary of a resident, or an endowment to support the work of a particular specialty, your gift will live on in perpetuity, adding to our endowment and the long-term future of the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

You also have the option to restrict your gift without endowing, whether to a particular scholarship, department or research effort. These non-endowed, restricted gifts may be spent in their entirety, either in the year given or subsequently, but only for the purpose specified.
