Student Wellness Program (SWP)
The Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare Student Wellness Program (SWP) is a free, confidential counseling service which helps you as a student deal effectively with stressors and other pressures related to the academic setting. Whether it is a personal problem in the home setting or an academic problem that is impacting your performance, the SWP is here to help you deal with difficulties.
Confidentially is paramount to providing effective student services. Information regarding a student will not be released to anyone without written consent from the student. The SWP is independent from the academic system; the SWP doesn’t share any university-wide databases and/or central filing systems.
SWP services are available to all students enrolled in academic programs at participating schools which includes SOM on the Stratford Campus. Services are also available to anyone who resides in your household, even if they are not related to you. They can call and make an appointment on their own in complete confidentiality.
The SWP provides assessment and short –term counseling services. Referral is made, when needed, through your health care coverage.
Any issue that is distressing or impacting your ability to deal with personal or academic concerns is sufficient reason to come into counseling. Some types of problems might be test taking anxiety, school related stress/anxiety, personal problems, problems with relationships, family issues, eating disorders, alcohol & drug use, and problems with depression.
SWP services are free to you as a student, and to your household members..
