Rowan to host origins of species presentation

February 16, 2009

Rowan University will host Dr. Sean Carroll, a professor of molecular biology and genetics at the University of Wisconsin, for a presentation titled "Remarkable Creatures: Adventures in the Search for the Origins of Species," on Monday, March 30, at 11 a.m. in the Eynon Ballroom in the Chamberlain Student Center on Rowan's Glassboro campus.

Carroll, who is also an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Wisconsin, focuses his research on the relationship between genetics, development and evolution.  He has authored five books on the topic, the most recent of which shares a title with his lecture.

The presentation is part of Rowan's commemoration of the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin's On the Origin of Species By Means of Natural Selection. The talk is part of Rowan's Presidential Lecture Series and has been made possible by the generosity of Frank Bonner, M.D, of Radnor, P.a.
