Rowan Prof. Examines the Role of Feminist Politics

GLASSBORO, NJ - Dr. Sharyn Clough, of Philadelphia (19130), assistant professor of philosophy at
Rowan University, recently published an essay entitled <+>A Hasty Retreat from Evidence: The Recalcitrance
of Relativism in Feminist Critiques of Science.<+>

Clough's essay, published in <+>Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy,<+> criticizes the commonly held
view that the world of politics and values (e.g., feminism) is conceptually distinct from the world of facts
and evidence (e.g., science).

Clough joined the Rowan University staff in September. She holds a bachelor's degree in social psychology
and a master's in social science of religion from the University of Calgary, and a Ph.D. in philosophy of
science and feminist theory from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. Prior to Rowan, Clough
worked at Le Moyne College in Syracuse.
