Rowan students to take to the streets to help beautify GlassboroApril 16, 2013
Close to 900 Rowan University students will don their gardening gloves, paint brushes, and positive attitudes to help out their neighbors in the Borough of Glassboro on Sunday, April 21 at 10 a.m
During Rowan’s annual “Back to the Boro” community beautification project, students will spend their Sunday giving back to their Glassboro community.
Through “Back to the Boro,” sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA), Glassboro residents sign up to have students help them with household tasks.
“The purpose of the event is to connect the University with the community,” said Natalie Serrano, the Director of Special Events for SGA.
From mulching to raking to even helping flip mattresses, students will aid residents in all areas of household chores.
Three times more students than last year will work on 50 different community projects according to Serrano.
Borough residents Robert Steere and his wife, Michaelene, are participating in “Back to the Boro” for the third year.
“We basically have the students come help us out with our springtime yard work. It saves my wife’s back and my back. It is tremendous that students want to help their neighbors,” said Steere.
