What Is a video embed?

When you embed a video, you are placing a playable video directly on your web page. Visitors do not have to leave your page or open a new tab. They watch it right where they are.

In the past, embedding a video required copying a block of code from YouTube or Vimeo and pasting it into a page. That code was easy to break, hard to read, and did not always display well on phones or tablets.

The Video Embed module changes that completely.

What the video embed module does

The Video Embed module lets you place a YouTube or Vimeo video on any page in Cascade using just a short ID from the video's URL. No code. No technical steps

Every video embedded this way is fully responsive — meaning it automatically resizes to fit any screen. Whether your visitor is on a desktop monitor, a laptop, a tablet, or a phone, the video adjusts to fit their device perfectly. You do not have to do anything extra to make that happen. The module handles it for you.

What's included in the module

The Video Embed module has four fields:

  • Heading: An optional title that appears above the video as a Heading 2.
  • Content: An optional text area above the video where you can add a short description, a summary, or supporting information. This is a great place to describe what the video covers for visitors, and it counts toward your page's word count for SEO.
  • Video Type: Choose either YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Video ID: The short string of characters that identifies your specific video. You copy this directly from the video's URL.
