Update to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (A)

On April 24th, 2024, the Department of Justice issued a final rule updating regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. For Rowan University, this includes ensuring the following:

  • Alt text on images - Missing alt text is one of the most frequently flagged failures on university websites.
  • PDF Accessibility - PDFs are the most commonly reported barrier by students with disabilities.
  • Heading Structure - Proper heading hierarchy is how screen readers navigate a page. 
  • Broken Links - A dead link is a navigation failure and barrier for every visitor.
