Support for Military-Affiliated Students

- Active Duty: Active Duty military can advance their careers and become commissioned officers through education development offered through Rowan’s affordable undergraduate majors, professional development for credit certificates, and master degree programs. Many courses are offered in accelerated and flexible online formats to address the busy lives of active military personnel. Active Duty members may be eligible for Tuition Assistance.
- Reservists: Rowan helps Reservists gain new skills through a variety of online undergraduate and graduate programs that offer the flexibility to complete a degree at your own pace. Members of the selected reserve of the U.S. Armed Forces may be eligible for education such as Montgomery GI Bill, tuition assistance, and state benefits to help with educational expenses. Some reservists also may be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®
- Veterans: Military Service office helps Veterans’ transition to new roles in the public sector by guiding them in the educational path in reaching their future career goals. Assisting veterans to apply for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs, whether it is Vocational Readiness and Employment or Post-9/11 GI Bill® along with additional resources on and off campus.
- National Guard: As with every military section, Rowan offers a variety of popular online undergraduate and graduate degree programs and military assistance to advance careers both in the military and in preparation for entering the public sector. A National Guard Tuition Waiver-Commander Certificate is available to members of the New Jersey National Guard. This waives tuition for up to 17 credit hours (After Pell and TAG Grants).
- Army ROTC: Our active on-campus Army ROTC (Reserve Officer’s Training Corps) offers mentorship in learning how to become effective leaders, critical thinkers and moral citizens in preparation for a military career. Participants can continue onto active duty after graduation or on reserve duty with the National Guard or Army. Students successfully completing the program are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Army.
- The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program at Rowan provides students with leadership, management and basic military skills training. ROTC students can receive scholarships that pay up to full tuition and fees, book expenses and a monthly stipend. Students have the option of going on active duty after graduation or on reserve duty with the National Guard or Army. When students successfully complete the program, they are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Army. ROTC is an eight-year commitment. Princeton University is the host school for the program. - Military Dependents: Military Dependents (spouses and children) will work with the Military Services to see if they are eligible for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA) program or other state or university initiatives.
