Graduate Assistantships

In our department, MA students have the opportunity to work as Graduate Teaching Assistants. These positions are funded with a stipend of $6,500 per term and provide valuable professionalization and university-level teaching experience.

GTAs work closely with lead instructors from RTF’s core faculty to manage and run their own discussion sections for lower division media studies classes like Introduction to Media Aesthetics (an introductory film and television analysis course).

For more information, please contact Prof. Colleen Montgomery at montgomeryc@rowan.edu. To apply for a position, please use the following link.

Depending the research needs of faculty and the availability of funding, faculty members may be hiring Graduate Research Assistants, who will assist faculty in various aspects of their research. Funding for these positions is usually competitive hourly pay.

Beyond the department, Rowan graduate students can also apply for tutoring positions in the Rowan Writing Center, which offers competitive hourly pay.

A number of units offer Graduate Assistantships, but they require separate applications and have different deadlines, so be sure to check all the opportunities and apply to as many as possible. Many of these are announced in December, with applications due in the early spring.
