Anthony (Tony) Lowman, Ph.D., serves as the inaugural Chancellor of Rowan University, where he leads efforts to advance academic excellence, student success, and workforce development. Under his leadership, Rowan has launched both the Virtua Health College of Medical & Life Sciences and New Jersey’s first veterinary school, expanded health-related academic offerings, and integrated innovative practices across disciplines. He has championed entrepreneurship and is guiding Rowan’s pursuit of R1 research status and online growth through the creation of new doctoral programs and significant research funding. Dr. Lowman has also supported landmark initiatives like the Jean & Ric Edelman Fossil Park and Museum, reinforcing Rowan’s commitment to science education and public engagement. Prior to becoming Chancellor, he served as Rowan’s Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and as Dean of the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering.
