University Communication
From student and faculty achievements to innovative research to breaking news, we tell the stories of Rowan doers and influencers. And, with each story, we share who Rowan University is, what we do and how we’re making a difference!
Our Focus
Our award-winning writers and communication specialists broaden and strengthen Rowan University’s reputation through storytelling and all aspects of public relations, community relations and issues management in collaboration with communicators and leaders across the University.
Our services:
- Storytelling - We share stories about students, employees, alumni, donors, programs, research and initiatives through the University’s online news website Rowan Today, e-newsletters, magazines (Rowan Magazine and Rowan Research) and the visual storytelling platform Rowan View. We also coordinate story planning in collaboration with the University Social Media Team, University photographers/videographers, freelancers and college communication coordinators.
- Media relations - Our writers issue news releases, media advisories, pitches and statements about priority University initiatives, events, accomplishments and experts for coverage by local, regional and national print, digital and broadcast media outlets. Staff also field media requests for interviews and information, and collaborate with University Events and the Office of the President to organize press events.
- Media training - Communicating with the media about your area of expertise requires planning and specialized training. Contact us at mediarelations@rowan.edu to learn more about one-on-one or group sessions.
- Editorial support - We provide guidance and editorial resources to University departments, colleges and schools. Our longtime freelance writers, photographers and videographers can partner with you on any project.
- Crisis and issue management - Our staff members specialize in communicating with both internal and external audiences and the media about incidents affecting the safety, welfare and/or reputation of the University.
