John Veilleux is Rowan University’s inaugural chief marketing officer. He joined Rowan in December 2024. He has been a higher education marketing and communications strategist for more than 25 years—serving in multiple chief marketing officer and vice president of communications roles. Before Rowan, he also served in executive leadership roles at Central Michigan University, Texas Wesleyan University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) before that.
As chief marketing officer, Veilleux is responsible for enhancing the university’s visibility and reputation, as well as increasing awareness and understanding of its mission, vision and academic programs among external and internal constituents.
He strategically plans and leads the conceptualization, development, integration and implementation of marketing, branding and communication strategies; executes a positioning strategy for the university; and develops and implements new marketing initiatives to strengthen the university's reputation nationally and internationally among all key constituencies. He leads a team of approximately 70 marketing and communications professionals.
Before serving in executive leadership roles, Veilleux spent eight years in legal education as an assistant dean and director of communications. He played a significant role in helping Texas Wesleyan University School of Law grow its enrollment and reputation after it received its ABA accreditation.

His team’s Smaller. Smarter. campaign at Texas Wesleyan was nominated for an Emmy, as was his team’s We Do campaign at Central Michigan University.
When he’s not working, you can find him running, hitting the gym or playing 18 holes (badly). He loves spending time with his family and is the proud husband of his wife, Apryle, and father to his three awesome kids, Jackson, 18, Payton, 16, and Jordan, 14.
