Biography

Christian Oberly supports Rowan’s institutional messaging through editorial services and client collaboration. He works closely with creative teams and vendors on print, digital and multimedia projects, ensuring consistent brand voice and high editorial standards across campaigns, reports and special initiatives.

Christian co-founded Hopeloft in 2018, a nonprofit committed to improving outcomes for children and families in South Jersey. He spent seven years working to grow the organization from an idea to a multimillion-dollar incubator of social enterprises. In 2020, he created Follow South Jersey to serve as a hyper-local news source for the region while training journalism students as they built their portfolios—many of whom were enrolled at Rowan. By 2025, the program had trained 40+ journalists, published 2,000+ articles and launched a print newsletter and weekly podcast.

After earning an A.A. in Journalism & Communications at Salem Community College, Christian transferred to Rowan University to complete a B.A. in Journalism with a New Media Concentration. While on campus, he kept busy with roles at both Rowan Radio WGLS-FM and Rowan’s student-led newspaper, The Whit.
