Graduate Studies in Film, Television, and Media

Graduate coursework in the department offers students the opportunity to pursue advanced academic study in the history, theory, and criticism of media, while gaining professional skills in critical thinking, research, and analysis. Our core graduate program is the 30-credit Diana King Master of Arts (MA) in Film, Television, and Media Studies (FTMS) can be obtained through direct enrollment or, for current undergraduates, through the accelerated dual BA/MA (or 4+1) degree. Once admitted to the MA program, students are eligible for financial assistance in the form of scholarship, travel grant, and teaching assistant opportunities. Advanced seniors may also take graduate courses with instructor permission through senior privilege, and graduate students in other programs may take our courses as electives or toward the completion of a Certificate of Graduate Studies.
