Dean's Welcome

At the Ric Edelman College of Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences ("Ric Edelman College" for short), we believe education must do more than prepare students for their first job—it must prepare them for the future world. Our students gain the ability to adapt, analyze complex problems both qualitatively and quantitatively, make ethical decisions, and engage with humanity in meaningful ways. These are not just “soft skills”; they are the essential skills that employers, communities, and our democracy need most in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, rapid change, and global challenges.
With 13 departments, over 40 majors and graduate programs, and more than 500 annual graduates, we are Rowan University’s largest service college. We teach more than 25,000 student credit hours each semester, and we provide the foundation that supports the University’s R1 research ambitions. We also have over 4000 majors and graduate students specializing in the various degrees we offer.
Our faculty are award-winning teachers and scholars whose research and community engagement bring in grant dollars, advance health equity, strengthen public policy, preserve history, and expand cultural understanding.
From innovative graduate programs to interdisciplinary clusters in Health Studies, Digital Humanities, Public Policy, and developing AI Ethics and Public Policy, the Ric Edelman College is a hub of creativity, civic engagement, and collaboration.
Our students learn in classrooms, in communities, and across the globe through experiential education, field schools, internships, and study abroad programs that ensure they graduate ready to lead and serve.
We invite you to explore our programs, meet our faculty, and join us in building a future where the humanities, communication, and social sciences guide technology, strengthen democracy, and keep human dignity at the center of innovation.
