Kate Harmon is an associate teaching professor in the SportsCAM program and communication studies department. Her research interests include analyzing gender dynamics within sport—specifically, depictions of athletes in media—as well as portrayals of gender in popular culture texts.

Julia Richmond is an assistant professor in the SportsCAM program and the public relations and advertising department. Her research is situated at the intersection of crisis communication, sports communication, and critical studies. When she is not teaching or researching, she enjoys watching Rowan's women’s basketball. She also serves as a chair of the Division of Communication and Sport for the National Communication Association.

Kenny Smith is an assistant teaching professor in the communication studies department and is a part of the SportsCAM program. He does research and writes for Rowan’s Center for Sports Communication and Impact.

Prior to entering academia, he worked for about a decade as a multimedia journalist, news anchor and producer, covering sports and breaking news across the southeastern United States. He has contributed to the Associated Press, ESPN, and Smithsonian Magazine. He’s also filed live reports in most of the major broadcast markets across the country and in print in a variety of newspaper and magazine formats.

Kenny reviews scholarship for a variety of journals and conferences and has served as a judge for several state and national media awards.

Off campus, he works with South Jersey Cycling Safety Committee, an organization which aims to raise awareness of road safety for motorists and cyclists.

Emil Steiner is an associate professor in, and coordinator of, the SportsCAM program. His research explores how and why people enjoy sports, binge-watch, and create culture through fandom. His award-winning scholarship has been published in peer reviewed journals, presented at international conferences, and translated into Korean, Czech, German, Spanish, and Slovak.  He teaches News Media Literacy, Sports Journalism, and the Sports CaM Senior Seminar at Rowan.
