 Campus and Off-Campus Experiences

Rowan University offers a wealth of opportunities for students interested in pursuing a Sports Communication and Media (Sports CaM) degree

  • Internships are a big part of the Sports CaM experience. Our students have landed positions with some of the most desirable teams, leagues, PR/marketing/event planning firms in the country.
  • The Delaware Blue Coats (NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers) and the Wilmington Blue Rocks (High Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals) both formed partnerships with Rowan in 2021. Every season dozens of students work a variety of game-day positions, including radio broadcasters and television production crew. 
  • WGLS-FM, 89.7 FM Rowan radio, is the broadcast home for both the Blue Coats and Blue Rocks. The radio station also has a strong presence broadcasting games on campus for Rowan Athletics.  
  • Our newest partners are the Philadelphia Wings, professional box lacrosse team, Real Central New Jersey and SJEB FC (South Jersey Elite Barons), pre-professional soccer teams. Our students manage all three clubs video stream during the summer months. 
  • Students with an eye towards journalism can join The WHIT staff, the campus newspaper since 1938.
  • Rowan Television Network, is a student-run television station that broadcasts Rowan sports and is home to studio shows. Rowan Athletics stream covers most of the university’s 18 varsity teams with student production support. 
  • Students are exposed to some of the biggest names in sports, like ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith, Hall of Famers Charles Barkley and Brian Dawkins, have all visited Rowan’s campus.
  • Each week during the spring and fall semesters, Pizza with the Pros entertains top sports industry professionals for a question-and-answer session with students.
  • Nerd Street Gamers opened a 7,100 square-foot esports facility on campus called Localhost Rowan University with 70 PCs dedicated for video gamers including Rowan’s esports teams. 
  • From the minute students arrive on campus, they know they are part of a rapidly growing program with all the tools available to them to help cultivate a path to a successful career.
