Amanda S. Almon is a Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI), accredited by the Association of Medical Illustrators and CAAHEP. She is an active biomedical illustrator and animator whose research and scholarship focus on pharmaceutical and cell biology visualization, medical device animation, patient education media, and immersive educational simulations using virtual and augmented reality. Her work spans television, film, web, trade shows, B2B marketing and training, grant-funded research, and textbooks. Almon’s projects have been featured through outlets including the Discovery Channel, Oprah Winfrey with Dr. Oz via Visible Productions, That’s Nice Productions, AgencyRX, Lemming Labs, McGraw-Hill, Lachina Publishing Services, Bloom Creative, and Prentice Hall.

She completed a long-term 2D and 3D patient education initiative for a mobile eHealth application in collaboration with Partners HealthCare, Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Almon has also served as a co-investigator and creative lead on multiple large-scale grants, including virtual reality surgical training with Cooper Hospital and Rowan Engineering, and a six-million-dollar U.S. Army–funded AR/VR survivability simulation project with Picatinny Arsenal.

Currently in her twelfth year as a Full Professor at Rowan University, Almon holds her primary appointment in the Biomedical Art and Visualization BFA program within the Ric Edelman College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She also serves as Visualization Lead for Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality Center (MAVRC), and Dreamscape Learn initiatives at Rowan University.
