Figure Model Policy
Absolutely No Photography or Recording of Figure Models
Photography, video recording, audio recording, or any form of image capture of figure models is strictly prohibited in all Department of Art studio spaces.
Students and class participants may not photograph or record figure models at any time, including when models are clothed. This policy is clearly stated in course syllabi and is enforced by the Rowan University Department of Art.
Taking images or recordings is prohibited. Therefore, imagery of figure models may not be reproduced, stored, transmitted, or distributed via social media, personal devices, cloud storage, or any digital or electronic format.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action and/or legal consequences, in accordance with Rowan University’s Student Code of Conduct and applicable laws.
This policy is in place to protect the rights, privacy, and safety of all models and to maintain a professional academic studio environment.
Please note this policy does not include Westby 109, 201 or 216. (Please contact the relevant faculty in the Department of Radio, TV & Film)
Student Studio Access Policy
Studio access is a privilege. Studio rooms and equipment require proper handling, maintenance, and monitoring. This policy is here to keep all students, faculty, staff, and spaces safe as much as possible. As such, all students granted studio access are upheld to the student code of conduct with emphasis on CONDUCT RULES to maintain access to the studio room.
Please note this policy does not include Westby 109, 201 or 216. (Please contact the relevant faculty in the Department of Radio, TV & Film)
-
All Rowan students and student organizations must have written and explicit approval to access a studio room and use its equipment.
-
Requesting access does not guarantee approval. Prior approval does not guarantee future approvals.
-
Approval is based on availability and request.
-
Approvals must be granted by all relevant faculty and staff as noted in the request instructions.
-
Requests need to be made in advance, no guarantees can be made on timing of notification of approvals.
-
Use of studio may not disrupt classes/demos/crits/other approved student activities in the same and/or adjacent spaces, and noise must be kept to a minimum
-
Access may be revoked for safety or conduct concerns. Past incidents can affect future access.
-
If you are granted approval, you must bring your own materials which must also be approved (via your request) for use in the studio rooms and equipment.
-
Certain studio rooms may require additional safety steps/protocol after approval, as determined by the area coordinator or studio technician.
-
Any changes to proposed dates or project time line after request has been approved must be submitted in writing and be re-approved by all necessary parties.
Request Instructions
Studio access request as an enrolled student
If you are enrolled in an ART course that has studio room access, you do not have to request access to that studio room; you can use the studio in its posted open hours. By default you have access to that studio room during your course enrollment.
However, being enrolled in one studio course does not grant you access to all ART studio rooms, nor does a single student’s enrollment give access to groups of nonenrolled students or student organizations. To gain access to other ART studio rooms, you must submit a request for approval. Rationale for the outcome of the request will be assessed by the following factors:
- Studio Availability
- Feasibility of Project
- Level of Guidance/Assistance Needed
- Tax on Studio
- Academic Value
- University Scope and Reach/Career Impact
