Rowan Summer Music Camps
Hosted by Department Faculty, Rowan Summer Music Camps offer students entering grades 8 through 12 the opportunity to develop their musical skills while experiencing life on a college campus! With both overnight and commuter options, the five-day camp provides student musicians a chance to explore what it takes to become a music educator, performing artist or industry professional.
Campers will engage in challenging repertoire, ensemble performances, instructional classes, live concerts, special topic sessions and more, while receiving personalized instruction from some of the region's finest music educators and performers.
Designed to challenge beginner and more advanced young musicians, our camps offer a supportive and nurturing environment where students thrive. Campers will build lasting connections with like-minded peers through collaborative team-building activites and develop leadership skills to succeed in their school programs and beyond!

FAQs
Commuter vs Resident?
Our Summer Music Camp has both an overnight or "resident" camper option and a day "commuter" camper option. Commuters will arrive in the mornings and leave after the day's programming concludes, while residents check-in and stay on campus at the University's newest dorm, Holly Pointe Commons for the duration of camp. Both commuters and residents participate in the same activities throughout the day, including lunch and dinner with the rest of the group. Commuter tuition is $500 and resident camper tuition is $900.
What level of proficiency or experience to directors expect?
All camp sections are open to students entering grades 8 through 12 at all skill levels. If you have specific concerns, please reach out to us via email and we will connect you with your camp's director (musiccamps@rowan.edu)
What should I bring/pack?
We reccommend all campers come prepared with:
- Water bottle/refillable bottle (fill stations and fountains available across campus)
- Sunscreen (for outdoor activites)
- Instrument
- A backpack or tote bag
- Pencils and highlighters
- Snacks
- Umbrella or poncho
- a good pair of sneakers
- shower shoes

Cash is optional. Vending machines (take cash-small bills or card) are located in the music building and campers are allowed to visit them during breaks throughout the day and during evening activities. We will also visit the YOGO Factory! (Frozen Yogurt on-campus) one evening and campers are allowed to purchase their own frozen yogurt.
How are roommates chosen for overnight campers?
Roommates are assigned by our camp team. Typically, campers are paired with students in the same camp (vocal with vocal, band with band, etc.) and the same age group and gender.
If you are coming to camp with a friend or sibling, let our team know and we can accomodate your roommate request.

What time is drop off/pick up for commuters?
Students commuting for camp should plan to be dropped off by 8:45AM. Pick up at the end of the day is typically 8-9pm after the social activities conclude.
Earlier pick up times can be arranged as needed. Commuters have lunch and dinner with the rest of the camp and dinner wraps up by 7pm typically.
What and where will I eat at camp?
All meals are served in the Holly Pointe Commons Dining hall, in stations. All foods are clearly labeled with ingredients and allergy information. Our registration form includes a question for campers to list their allergies. Residents receive breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Commuters receive lunch and dinner daily.
Where will I live on campus during camp?
All residents live in the on-campus dorms at Holly Pointe Commons during camp. The dorms have 2 campers per room, large, shared bathrooms, common lounge space. Each camper will have individual access cards for the dorm building and room. There are elevators and air-conditioning. Toilet paper and mattresses are provided. Be preparents to bring your own bed sheets, blankets, sleeping bag, pillow etc to make yourself comfortable. Our registration form includes a question for campers to add a roommate request of another camper attending camp this year.
What type of support and supervision is there for campers?
All campers are supported by our camp team, made up of Rowan faculty, support staff and alumni and Rowan Music major counselors. The camp team is available 24/7 for the duration of camp.
Campers travel in large groups and attendance is taken at all rehearsals, sectionals, meals, concerts and at the dorms. In addition to our camp staff supervision the Rowan University Campus Police patrol the campus 24/7.
Is there a recital or performance at the end of camp?
Yes! The final evening of camp (Thursday) there are performances and presentations from each camp. Location and times are being scheduled at the moment and should be finalized by mid-June.
Will I have fun?
The short answer is YES! Our camp counselors and staff host a series of team-building activites and games to give campers time away from instruction and rehearsal. Campers will participate in both indoor and outdoor games, scavenger hunts, ice cream socials and enjoy live performances and concerts. Campers are also encouraged to bring football, frisbees, card games or their favorite games to play during the evenings and down time between sessions.
