Biography
Owen Speas is a cellist, composer, and educator who holds a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Rowan University, where he studied under the instruction of Dr. David Agia. An active and versatile performer, Owen has a rich background in both classical and unconventional music scenes. At Rowan, he performed with the University’s Symphony Orchestra, String Ensemble, and Collegium Musicum. Demonstrating a broad musical curiosity, he also performed with Rowan’s small jazz ensembles, Zorzal Music Ensemble, and frequently collaborated with contemporary composers to premiere new works. In addition to his primary focus on cello, holds Certificates of Undergraduate Study in Music Composition and Jazz Performance. As an educator, he brings dedication and diverse musical background to his teaching, helping students develop strong technical foundations across a wide variety of musical styles.
