2023 Dean's Outstanding Academic Achievement in Master of Biomedical Sciences

Rowan-Virtua TBES was instrumental in helping me achieve my lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. I knew that academic reinforcement from a Special Master's Program leading up to medical school would be a benefit for me and TBES stood out for its linkage to Rowan-Virtua SOM, offering both familiarity and a guaranteed interview opportunity. I worked diligently to maintain an excellent GPA, while balancing coursework and athletics (using my remaining Track & Field eligibility). This program not only prepared me academically but also boosted my confidence and study habits. Ultimately, TBES opened the door to my acceptance at Rowan-Virtua SOM, where I began my medical school journey in 2023.

I am extremely grateful for my time at Rowan-Virtua TBES as a Master’s student. As someone who decided to pursue a career in medicine later than most traditional applicants, this program provided the opportunity to strengthen my academic foundation through rigorous, high-level coursework. The professors and program directors were consistently engaged and supportive, demonstrating a clear commitment to student success both inside and outside the classroom. The program’s structure allowed me to balance demanding academics with continued involvement in work, volunteer, and research experiences. My experience at Rowan TBES has prepared me well to meet the expectations of medical training.

My time at RowanGSBS (Rowan-Virtua TBES) was transformative. I served as the biomedical graduate representative for FIMRC (Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children), volunteering at a pediatric clinic. I also conducted tours for incoming biomedical students. TBES offered leadership opportunities while balancing rigorous coursework. I collaborated with professors on an independent research study, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and mentorship. Their guidance and recommendation letters helped me advance professionally. These experiences equipped me with critical skills and values that led to my acceptance into the Doctor of Health Science program. TBES shaped my career and remains an integral part of my success.
