The Rowan‑Virtua DO/PhD program has given me the ideal environment to grow as a future physician‑scientist, with a focus on patient- and public health-centered medical care. Working in Dr. Kingsley Yin’s cell biology lab, I gained valuable technical skills and learned how translational research can directly impact patient care. The program’s collaborative atmosphere and emphasis on a holistic approach constantly pushes me to think critically, communicate clearly, and learn from experts across diverse scientific backgrounds. I’ve found endless support and mentorship, and I feel part of a community that values teamwork and evidence‑based inquiry. This experience has strengthened my commitment to advancing public health through research, medical innovation, and patient care.

Rowan-Virtua TBES, 2016 (PhD)
Rowan-Virtua SOM, 2018 (DO)
Entering medical school, I knew I wanted research to be part of my career, but the DO/PhD program is what truly transformed that interest into a lifelong passion. Joining Dr. Nagele’s lab gave me the foundation to grow as a scientist and the mentorship to pursue ambitious questions with confidence. That experience shaped my path, ultimately helping me earn a coveted spot in a competitive psychiatry residency, physician‑scientist training program. That opportunity led to an NIH K-award and helped me become an independent investigator.
More than the achievements, what stays with me most is the supportive, collaborative environment. My time in the lab, and the people who guided me, remain the roots of my success as a physician‑scientist today.
